Talker Inc. started out as a research group at the University at Buffalo which set out to help a 42 year old stroke patient speak. The group, called the UB Technology Group, expanded the project to help children in the local community. Word had gotten about about the device, which was coined the UB Talker, and many inquiries were received regarding how it could be purchased. In an effort to fulfill the flood of requests, the UB Talker was transformed into a viable commercial product, and Talker Inc. was formed.
